US Soccer's Years of Experience datapoint usage

1. The U.S. Soccer Learning Center Years of Experience datapoint is now available through Ref Insight's API.

This tutorial shows where this datapoint is available within the platform and some use cases for it.

2. Years of Experience is now visible in the Directory. Click Directory.

3. If the Years of Experience column is not displayed, click Actions then Columns and move the item to the right side of the shuttle to display it in this report.

4. To see this datapoint within someone's profile, click the magnifying glass next to the person's name.

5. Years of Experience is shown as the last datapoint of the profile.

6. The Years of Experience datapoint is also available when adding people to Pools.

Click the arrow next to Settings to expand the dropdown.

8. Create a new pool or click the magnifying glass next to an existing pool to modify it.

9. The Years of Experience column is displayed in the Members report.

10. Let's add more people to this pool, based on the number of Years of Experience they have.

Click Add People.

13. Double Click Years of Experience to move this item to the right side of the shuttle.

Let's see how we can use this information to make selections for our pool.

16. This column can be sorted ascending with the up arrow, or descending with the down arrow. For this example, we will sort it ascending.

If you want to filter for a specific number of years, click the Yrs Exp column header and make your selection.

17. This column can be filtered in more complex ways to narrow down the list of people who meet specific criteria.

For these more complex filtering options, click Actions.

22. For this filter, we want to see people with less than or equal to a certain number of years of experience. Click the <= sign.

26. Click the number of Rows to change how many rows are displayed on the page.

30. For this next example, let's filter for people who have at least a certain number of Years of Experience or more. Click the >= sign.

32. For this example, we will choose those with 5 Years of Experience or greater.

34. People with 5 years of experience or more are now displayed. Select the relevant people, click Save Selected People, then click Save Changes to save these people to your pool.

35. Let's now see how this datapoint can be used in the Assigning Workspace.

In the menu, click the arrow next to Assignor Workflow, then click Assigning Workspace.

36. On the Officials side of the page, Click the Columns icon to display the column options.

38. Two additional columns are now available that are useful to see the Number of Assignments (Year to Date, or YTD) and Total. We will check both of these boxes to see this information along with Years of Experience.

41. Click on a cell on the Matches side of the page to instantly update availability and other information for the officials listed on the right.

42. The total and year-to-date number of assignments and the Years of Experience for each official is displayed.

Sort year-to-date ascending to see who has not had any assignments to date for the current year.

43. You can do the same for Years of Experience.

44. We have sorted these officials so those with lower numbers of assignments to date and those with a lower number of years of experience are at the top of the list.

45. For this next example, we will add a minimum number of Years of Experience to the Self-Assign feature.

Let's use the U13/14 schedule in this Competition for our example. Click the magnifying glass next to the relevant schedule.

47. To adjust self-assign settings for one position at a time, click the edit icon next to that position.

48. Move the toggle to the right to allow self-assign for this position within this schedule.

49. Click Self Assign Minimum Age to set a minimum age for this position.

50. For this example, we will choose 16

51. Click Minimum Years of Experience to also add this restriction.

53. Remember if both of these settings are used, an official will need to meet both of these criteria to see the assignment in the self-assign area of the app. You can also choose either item in isolation if you prefer.

56. The Grid Edit can also be used to complete these self-assign settings for each match role within this schedule.

59. The Minimum Years of Experience column is role-specific, just as the other variables for self-assign.

62. Years of Experience has also been added to Observer Reports. Click the arrow next to Evaluation to access these reports.

64. The Years of Experience column is displayed in the master report. Sort and filter on this datapoint as you wish.

65. Observers can see this datapoint for matches they are assigned to or to help find matches that have assigned officials with a certain number or range of Years of Experience.

Observers access these matches within the officials' portal.

67. To see all matches in a Competition or only the matches that I, as an observer, have been assigned to, fill in the filters and select the match. The Years of Experience for each official is displayed next to their name and assignment status.

68. Observers can also use the View All Matches feature to find matches and see both the Maximum Years of Experience within a crew, and how many Years of Experience each official has.

To access this feature, click View All Matches.

73. Observers can filter and sort this report by Max Years of Experience, use their web browser's Find function for more general searches, and see if an Observer or Ref Coach has already been assigned to the match.
